Chasing My Thirties Entry #6

Wednesday April 2nd 2025

I am now eight days post op.

I thought that I would feel a little better once my stomach absorbed the gas they pumped me with, but I was so wrong, it just intensified all the other pain I'm experiencing. I am getting better every day, it's just moving at a much slower pace than I'd like, but I need to remember to be mindful of all my body just went through.

I'm finally able to stand up straight and I can climb stairs more easily, it's more of the bending and lifting and moving around overall that I'm still working on, but I'll take any progress I can get no matter how little it may be.

I also returned to work on Monday which is kind of why I'm a little behind on this. The first day was the hardest; I returned with nine hundred and twenty-three emails in my inbox. The challenge was getting through my day after laying in bed or on the couch for so many days. My body was not enjoying me sitting down so at times I stood up (I bought a stand up desk back in February - which I'm obsessed with by the way), but my body didn't like that either, so I spent my day rotating between sitting and standing. Tuesday and today we're a little easier and I do wish I gave myself more time off to rest, but I'm glad to be back at work so here I am. Not to mention I'm used to working in extreme pain so honestly I'll be fine.

This past Sunday night, five days post op, is when I started to notice some changes with my hormones. I've dealt with this before so it's nothing new, but I'm currently battling night sweats. I've woken up these past few days covered in sweat to the point where I needed to shower so I could feel better about myself. It's not the most exciting of times, but I think it has something to do with this being the week my period was expected, because in the past leading up to my period was when I'd experience night sweats, so I'm hoping it levels out by Friday because it's really bugging me. I have my first post op appointment in three weeks so that will be helpful.

I did also find out the results of my surgical pathology report, but I'm going to keep it to myself until I can chat with my doctor so I can better understand the findings before I share them. I will say, the results did bring some kind of closure, so I'm thinking once I talk with my doctor I'll be able to connect all the pieces and finally make sense of everything that's happened.

In other news, I just closed out March (aka my six months with Deephaven Mortgage and my sixth year being in the mortgage industry, with the most amount of loans I've ever closed in one month. My ops manager helped me wrap up the last few while I was out from surgery, but I managed to close thirty-one loans! Out of all of the account managers, I was the fourth highest producing account manager... and mind you this is only with six months of experience in this role. I can't wait to see what my new record will be another six months from now.

Before I go, I will confess that I am a little behind on all the things Chasing My Twenties related. Now that my surgery is over and done with and I'm on the path of recovery I can finally shift my focus back into doing what I love most, which is writing. My goal is to have some fun updates for you as this new month unfolds.
